About the Role
Under general supervision, the engineer will collect and analyze site data, conduct research, assist in design and load calculations, and help install plumbing and fire‑protection systems in compliance with codes and permits. The position also requires generating clear documentation and adhering to safety guidelines. • Collect and analyze site data, surveys, blueprints and technical drawings. • Conduct research and inspections of existing and proposed conditions. • Assist in design, load calculations and installation of plumbing, fire‑suppression and fluid‑flow systems. • Generate accurate documentation, specifications and field logs using electronic tools. • Follow safety guidelines and site‑specific procedures. • Complete assigned training tasks. • Make ethical decisions regarding company resources and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.

What You Bring
WSP is launching a search for an Early Career Plumbing Engineer in its New York, New York office. The role supports the design, development, testing and inspection of plumbing, fire‑suppression and fluid‑flow systems on public and private infrastructure and building projects. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering (or a related field) and have 0‑1 years of post‑graduation experience. Required skills include strong research and analytical abilities, familiarity with design‑build processes, knowledge of relevant codes, effective communication, self‑leadership, proficiency with technical writing and software such as AutoCAD or Revit, and a proven safety record. Flexibility for project‑specific schedules, occasional travel, and the ability to work both independently and within a team are also essential. • Bachelor’s Degree in Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. • 0–1 years of relevant post‑graduation experience. • Strong research and analytical skills. • Familiarity with design‑build processes and applicable codes, regulations and compliance practices. • Effective interpersonal and communication abilities for technical and non‑technical audiences. • Self‑leadership with attention to detail, multitasking and prioritization. • Ability to work independently under general supervision and collaboratively in a team. • Proficiency in technical writing, office software and spreadsheets. • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit or other discipline‑specific design software. • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health, safety and harassment policies. • Flexibility to work project‑specific schedules and occasional travel. • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification. • Prior internship in plumbing or mechanical engineering.
