Job Highlights
About the Role
The Sorter is responsible for safely and efficiently processing incoming recyclable materials so that outbound commodities are acceptable for sale to various brokers or mills. The role involves operating within a recycling facility to ensure materials are sorted accurately, safety protocols are adhered to, and effective communication with team members and equipment operators is maintained. • Sort and segregate recoverable materials (e.g., aluminum, plastic, glass, paper) from incoming waste. • Deposit recoverable materials safely and efficiently into appropriate chute. • Assist other sorters with heavy or bulky items as needed. • Follow all Company safety policies and procedures, including stopping the conveyor belt in emergencies. • Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste and remove unsuitable items. • Communicate with equipment operators about special waste or loads requiring special attention.
