About the Role

• Understand and apply all components of the project management plan, including scope, procurement, environmental, schedule, financial, quality, safety, and risk management, and manage changes. • Develop and integrate a procurement schedule with the CPM schedule; procure materials/equipment; coordinate and review submittals for contract compliance. • Interpret prime contract, subcontracts, purchase orders, allowances, drawings, and specifications; manage budgeting and cost control to stay within the approved budget. • Maintain as‑built contract documents and compile close‑out items such as operation and maintenance manuals, warranties, and other required specifications. • Participate in concrete form design, equipment selection, and perform takeoffs for concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utilities as needed. • Plan, acquire, develop, and supervise project team members to ensure relentless project execution. • Prepare and maintain quantity reports, coordinate meeting agendas, record minutes, and manage project logs. • Prepare, review, and process change orders and time extensions; maintain a change order log and distribute executed orders; adjust cost control budgets promptly. • Identify, quantify, mitigate, and resolve potential or actual claims in a timely manner. • Use telephone, computer, email, or other electronic devices to communicate with internal and external parties. • Comply with all safety standards and procedures. • Use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects frequently; lift, push, or pull objects occasionally. • Interact with people frequently throughout the work shift. • Sit, stand, or walk short distances for the entire shift duration as required. • Participate in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan and 401(k) retirement program. • Utilize flexible time off, flexible spending accounts, and employee assistance and wellness programs. • Contribute to the Sundt Foundation charitable program.

What You Bring

The Sr Project Engineer serves as the technical source of information for the project, possessing thorough knowledge of construction documents, subcontracts, and purchase orders. They respond to questions about drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and change orders while maintaining professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers. This role may also assist in supervising and training Field Engineers. The position includes three steps—Step I (entry level), Step II (3 years of experience or larger projects), and Senior (over 6 years or significantly larger/complex projects)—providing a progression of skill and experience. • Possess advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, and standards and understand the interdependence of functional units. • Hold a four‑year construction‑related degree or equivalent training with at least three to four years of construction engineering experience. • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to manage and train multidisciplinary teams, including Field Engineers. • Wear required personal protective equipment, such as steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, and safety vest. • Reach above shoulder height and below waist frequently; stoop, kneel, or bend occasionally; climb stairs or ladders as needed.
