About the Role

The Construction Management Services Business Class Leader is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and improving technical competencies of staff and products, focusing on client needs and market drivers. The role includes strategic planning, budgeting, business development, delivery of project services, collaboration with operations and marketing, staff and workload management, and participation in practice groups to improve standards. Responsibilities encompass quality assurance and control, subcontractor coordination, creation of procedures, and construction management activities such as procurement, schedule development, value engineering, constructability reviews, budgeting, schedule control, health and safety compliance, and preparation of project documentation. The leader also oversees local bidding, temporary facilities, and other duties as needed. • Lead strategic planning, budgeting, and implementation for the business class. • Drive business development activities and support client project delivery. • Manage and mentor business class staff, workloads, and project assignments. • Participate in practice groups to enhance standards and best practices. • Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews across projects. • Coordinate subcontractor scheduling, performance, and health‑and‑safety compliance. • Develop and implement procedures for construction management activities. • Oversee procurement, construction schedules, value engineering, and constructability reviews. • Administer project budgets, cost control, and schedule management. • Prepare project schedules, progress reports, pay requests, and budget updates. • Lead local bidding efforts and manage temporary site facilities. • Ensure subcontractor adherence to HDR’s health and safety program. • Engage with professional or industry associations to advance technical expertise.

What You Bring

Preferred qualifications include active engagement in professional associations, Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential, and California Professional Engineer licensure. Required qualifications are a bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering or a related field, at least 10 years of experience, commitment to quality and HDR values, professional registration, experience leading diverse teams, and a collaborative attitude aligned with the employee‑owned culture. • Hold Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification and California PE license (preferred). • Possess a bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering or related field and 10+ years of experience.
