About the Role
As an Engineering Technician you will provide all‑round engineering support and maintain the building infrastructure. You will have a detailed understanding of new and existing building services systems, contingency procedures and will ensure compliance with health‑and‑safety and building codes of practice. You will maintain close liaison with the Shift Leader, issue site permits, complete SFG20 planned preventive maintenance and reactive tasks, perform daily checks, manage M&E stock, report accidents and near‑misses, and supervise effective site handovers. You will ensure statutory inspections are recorded, respond to out‑of‑hours calls, control third‑party contractors, uphold a 100 % uptime target and keep plant areas, workshops and changing rooms to the highest housekeeping standards. • Liaise with Shift Leader and issue site permits per Safe System of Work. • Complete SFG20 planned preventive maintenance and reactive tasks, updating the system. • Perform daily checks and report defects via helpdesk or ticketing system. • Manage M&E stock control and report accidents or near‑misses. • Supervise site handovers, including plant status, isolations and housekeeping. • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations; record statutory inspections. • Respond to out‑of‑hours calls and on‑call shifts, including public holidays. • Oversee 3rd‑party contractors, monitor performance and conduct internal audits. • Maintain 100 % plant uptime and high‑standard housekeeping in plant areas. • Operate and troubleshoot building systems (BMS, electrical, HVAC, fire, VESDA, UPS, etc.).
What You Bring
The role requires operation and troubleshooting of building systems such as BMS, electrical monitoring, HVAC (VAV, CRAC, chillers), domestic water, fire detection and suppression, VESDA, variable‑speed drives, UPS and low‑voltage switch panels. An approved apprenticeship or Level 3 City & Guilds in Building Services Engineering (HVAC/Electrical/Mechanical) with 17/18th Edition IEE certification is required, with at least three years of engineering experience preferred. You should be proactive, possess strong numeracy and literacy, report‑writing and MS Office skills, and demonstrate effective problem‑solving and customer‑service abilities. A smart, presentable appearance, good verbal and written communication, and experience working on busy commercial contracts are essential. The position is based on‑site in London, and JLL encourages applications from candidates who may not meet every requirement. • Hold an approved apprenticeship or Level 3 City & Guilds in Building Services Engineering (HVAC/Electrical/Mechanical) with 17/18th Edition IEE certification. • Minimum three years of engineering experience; preferably BTEC HND/ONC/HNC or HVAP qualification. • Strong numeracy, report writing, MS Office and problem‑solving skills. • Deliver excellent customer service with effective communication and professional appearance. • Work under pressure, self‑motivated and proactive.
