About the Role

The role of Team Leader / Technical Director – Façades provides technical and practice leadership for façade engineering across the UAE, GCC and global projects. Acting as the technical authority, you will oversee the full lifecycle of façade projects—from concept design and verification through construction support and performance validation—while enhancing delivery quality, team capability and commercial outcomes. A key responsibility is to build, mentor and lead a high‑performing façade engineering team in the UAE and Philippines, fostering a culture of design excellence, collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement. You will champion digital enablement, best‑practice methodologies and technical governance to support sustainable business growth. You will work closely with senior leaders and discipline heads across architecture, structures, MEP, fire & life safety, acoustics and project management to deliver coordinated solutions for new‑build, refurbishment and specialist façade advisory commissions. The role balances technical excellence, project governance, client engagement and people leadership in line with GHD’s global standards. • Lead façade design, specification development and technical governance to ensure consistent, high‑quality outcomes. • Act as the technical authority for all façade systems, defining standards, templates and QA/QC procedures. • Develop robust performance specifications aligned with international codes and client requirements. • Resolve complex technical challenges and deliver value‑engineered solutions that meet safety and architectural intent. • Serve as Design Lead/Technical Director, setting delivery strategy, governance frameworks and managing risk registers. • Oversee multidisciplinary coordination and approve key technical deliverables such as design reports, BIM models, calculations and contractor submittals. • Provide construction‑phase leadership, conduct site inspections, manage non‑conformances and ensure technical close‑out. • Recruit, mentor and develop façade engineers and technicians, establishing career pathways, competency frameworks and resource planning. • Build senior client relationships and lead work‑winning activities to drive revenue and repeat business. • Champion digital tools (BIM, computational design, AI) and lead R&D initiatives to improve productivity and margin. • Maintain a practice‑wide knowledge system of specifications, standard details and lessons learned for repeatable delivery.

What You Bring

The successful candidate is a senior façade engineering professional with strong commercial and delivery experience. Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, mechanical or architectural engineering (a master’s in façade engineering is an advantage) and 12+ years (team leader) or 18+ years (technical director) of mixed consultancy and contracting experience, including acting as a technical authority on major façade projects. • Own commercial performance of the façade portfolio, including profit margins, variations and change control. • Hold 12+ years (Team Leader) or 18+ years (Technical Director) of façade engineering experience with consultancy and contracting exposure. • Possess a bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, mechanical or architectural engineering; master’s in façade engineering is advantageous.
