Experienced Civil EIT - Land Development

About the Role

The selected engineer will handle site development engineering and project management for a variety of land‑development projects, completing civil designs, permitting, and bid packages using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and storm‑drainage software, as well as hydrology modeling tools. Additional duties include research, coordination, staff management, cost estimating, land‑disturbance permitting, and preparation of technical specifications, while receiving on‑the‑job training, mentorship, and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions. • Perform site development engineering and project management for land‑development projects. • Create civil designs, permitting documents, and bid packages using AutoCAD Civil 3D and storm‑drainage software. • Conduct hydrology modeling and storm‑drainage analysis. • Coordinate research, cost estimating, and staff management activities. • Provide technical specifications and support client interactions.

What You Bring

Kimley-Horn's Mesa, Arizona office is seeking a Civil Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) with at least two years of experience to join its Land Development team. This is an on‑site role and not remote. Candidates must have 2+ years at a civil engineering design firm, a B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university, and an EIT certification (or ability to obtain it within 12 months). They should be proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, possess strong communication skills, demonstrate urgency, be detail‑oriented, and thrive both independently and in a team environment. • 2+ years experience with a civil engineering design firm. • B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program. • Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months. • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D. • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. • Strong sense of urgency, detail‑orientation, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
