About the Role

We have an opportunity for an experienced Team Leader (Electrical Fitter) to join Downer’s Network Services team based in Matamata. In this role you’ll lead a team delivering high-quality workmanship across construction, maintenance and fault diagnosis/rectification of network equipment and installations. You’ll ensure work complies with company standards, industry regulations and Zero Harm expectations. You will plan and manage daily work activities, scoping jobs, breaking work into achievable steps, estimating time and resources, and scheduling tasks to meet programme, quality and budget requirements. Working closely with Works Coordinators, Supervisors and Project Managers, you’ll provide regular updates on progress and proactively manage challenges or changes.

What You Bring

You are an experienced Electrical Fitter who enjoys leading people, takes pride in quality workmanship and is committed to a safe, positive and productive work environment. You are organised, calm under pressure and can balance hands‑on work with leadership and planning responsibilities. The role requires a current EWRB registration with a practising licence, NZQA Level 4 qualification (or equivalent), a Class 1 driver’s licence, sound knowledge of SMEI and safe low‑voltage practices, and proven experience in electricity network construction, maintenance and fault response. • Hold a valid EWRB registration with a current practising licence. • Possess NZQA Level 4 qualification (or equivalent). • Maintain a current Class 1 driver’s licence. • Demonstrate sound knowledge of SMEI and safe low‑voltage electrical work practices. • Provide proven experience in electricity network construction, maintenance and fault response. • Exhibit strong job planning and coordination skills, including time and resource estimation. • Communicate clearly in verbal and written forms, including SWMS and JSEA documentation. • Desirable: Experience leading or supervising field teams. • Desirable: Hold a heavy trade licence.
