About the Role

• Review owner‑supplied documents and integrate findings into civil/structural designs. • Validate topographic elevation data and lead accuracy efforts. • Perform site grading and stormwater management design using terrain data. • Coordinate tracker pile projection height with racking criteria, clearances, grading, hydrology, and surveys. • Use site‑specific wind and corrosion studies to optimize pile designs for estimates. • Contribute to developing 30 % of construction documents in‑house. • Participate in or lead design reviews of civil, geotechnical, and structural submittals. • Ensure civil, geotechnical, and structural designs comply with owner requirements and industry standards. • Collaborate with estimating, design phase, operations, and category management teams. • Promote designs optimized for performance, quality, safety, and cost efficiency. • Stay current on solar industry trends and become a subject‑matter expert. • Attend solar industry conferences and forums.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical engineering or related field. • Minimum 1 year (Engineer I) or 2 years (Engineer II) of civil, geotechnical, structural, or solar PV construction management experience. • Familiarity with NEC code and NFPA standards. • Basic understanding of construction techniques and project management practices. • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint. • Experience with LPILE and Python programming preferred. • Creative, proactive, solution‑oriented mindset.

The position is headquartered in Minnesota with a hybrid work model, requires minimal travel (up to 10 %), and offers a base salary range of $80,900–$109,300 for Engineer I and $91,700–$123,800 for Engineer II, adjusted for certain locations. Compensation is positioned based on knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity, and the role is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
