Senior Contract Manager

About the Role

The SCM serves as a primary point of contact for legal and contractual support on all bids and projects in the UAE, aiming to protect profitability and improve cash flow. Responsibilities include reviewing bids, drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts such as turnkey (FIDIC), supply, sub‑contracts, consortium and NDA agreements, and managing contractual risk throughout the contract lifecycle. The role also requires coordinating legal matters with offshore Hitachi Rail units, maintaining entity licences and registrations, preparing risk and opportunity registers, delivering commercial reports to senior management, and providing input during project coordination meetings. The SCM will analyze local laws, manage external advisors when needed, and support any legal actions involving Hitachi Rail in the UAE. • Provide legal and contractual support for all UAE bids and rail projects. • Draft, negotiate and manage complex contracts (e.g., FIDIC turnkey, supply, subcontract, consortium, NDA). • Identify, quantify and mitigate contractual risks; maintain risk and opportunity registers. • Coordinate legal matters with offshore Hitachi Rail units and ensure document/license compliance. • Prepare and present commercial reports to senior management and advise during project meetings. • Analyze local laws, develop regional legal expertise, and manage external legal advisors. • Support legal actions and assist the regional Legal & Contracts team as required. • Ensure adherence to Hitachi Rail HSE policies and promote safety and sustainability practices.

What You Bring

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic, self‑motivated Senior Contract Manager (SCM) to join its UAE team. The SCM will report to the UAE Lead, who in turn reports to the Legal & Contracts Director, and will work closely with regional Legal & Contracts, business lines and GPMs involved in rail transportation projects. Candidates must have at least 12 years of experience as a contract manager or in‑house lawyer in an international setting, preferably with rail industry exposure. Fluency in English (both oral and written) is essential; Arabic reading and writing is preferred. The ideal applicant demonstrates high motivation, strong interpersonal and influencing skills, flexibility across countries, and the ability to interact with senior management. • Minimum 12 years contract management or in‑house legal experience in an international context. • Strong contractual/legal background; rail industry experience is a plus. • Fluent English (excellent drafting); Arabic reading/writing preferred. • Demonstrated high motivation, teamwork, influencing skills, and flexibility across regions.
