About the Role

The Rodman transports and sets up surveying instruments and equipment, prepares the job site for survey work, and learns all safety hazards related to the role. This position requires safe and effective use of various tools and equipment in plant operations or construction settings. Key duties include clearing vegetation from survey lines, laying out stakes for elevation measurements, assisting the surveyor with elevation determinations, and supporting other craft workers as needed while following safety procedures. • Clear trees, brush, and obstacles from survey lines. • Lay out stakes for elevation measurements. • Assist the surveyor in determining elevations. • Perform repetitive hand/arm tasks and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolds, and uneven surfaces. • Operate hand and power tools (electric, gas, pneumatic). • Work in adverse weather, mud, sand, loose rock, and confined spaces. • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members. • Read, write, and comprehend directions and safety policies. • Perform basic math calculations and detail‑oriented observations. • Make decisions and stay focused amid distractions.
