Senior Electrical Engineer - Water Infrastructure

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for our thriving Water Group in our Brisbane office. In this role, you will develop and design electrical systems and networks for engineering projects in our Water Division. You will work under the general direction of the Water Infrastructure Group Leader and be responsible for a small team of electrical engineers. • Perform electrical engineering design which includes modelling, engineering drawings, calculations, reports and design criteria to support electrical engineering projects. • Perform calculations to analyze and design electrical systems using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software. • Assist in the evaluation and selection of electrical systems and materials and the development of electrical specifications. • Contribute to the development of electrical systems through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats. • Assist in the preparation of engineering project documents, client presentations, client contact and communication pertaining to specific project deliverables. • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent. • Prepare electrical engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans and schedules. • Assist in the review of shop drawings and submittals, respond to requests for information, prepare site observation reports, and perform other contract administration tasks. • Recognize and champion safe working practices in the electrical industry.

What You Bring

• Recognize when technical problems are developing and initiate appropriate corrective actions. • Be available for onsite visits or project commissioning as required from time to time. • Be stationed in a client environment on small secondment when required. • Tertiary qualification in engineering with an emphasis on electrical. • At least 6 to 8 years’ experience in a similar position with well‑rounded experience on water and wastewater projects. • Knowledge and experience in LV and MV power systems in Australia. • Experience with CAD and power engineering software tools. • Highly developed consulting skills to liaise with clients and other stakeholders to achieve mutually successful project outcomes. • Hold CPEng and RPEQ status. • Willing to mentor junior engineers based on appropriate level of knowledge. • Willing to work from the South Brisbane office a minimum of three days per week. • Excellent people management skills.
