About the Role

Mortenson is seeking a Superintendent I to coordinate, plan, and supervise assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities within a specific discipline. The role also focuses on developing and enhancing customer relationships through excellent service. Key responsibilities include ensuring materials, equipment, and inspections align with the project schedule, reviewing construction and contract documents for completeness and constructability, and coordinating plans with design engineers to resolve discrepancies. The Superintendent will develop and manage project schedules, create site logistics plans, and lead the use of Mortenson tools and equipment while collaborating with partner superintendents. They will also conduct on‑site orientations, pre‑construction planning sessions, and project meetings, as well as supervise craft foremen and crews, handling hiring, transfers, and dismissals as needed. Leadership duties involve coaching assistant superintendents, mentoring craft team members, overseeing task coding and productivity tracking, and managing safety, quality, risk, and compliance. • Plan and implement material, equipment, and inspection schedules to support the project timeline. • Review construction and contract documents for completeness and constructability. • Coordinate plans and specifications with design engineers and resolve discrepancies. • Develop three‑ and six‑week look‑ahead project schedules and a site logistics plan. • Lead utilization of Mortenson tools and equipment on site. • Collaborate with project partner superintendents and conduct project orientations and meetings. • Supervise craft foremen and crews; manage hiring, transfers, and dismissals of team members. • Coach and mentor assistant superintendents and other project team members. • Ensure accurate task coding of work hours, track progress, and monitor craft productivity. • Provide high‑level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance for the project. • Identify and mitigate unfavorable working conditions and improve processes and procedures.

What You Bring

Candidates should possess an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or have at least ten years of trade experience, along with a minimum of five years in construction management. Additional requirements include a current driver’s license, the ability to manage multiple complex projects, strong organizational detail, basic knowledge of construction law, intermediate Microsoft Office skills, and a professional, customer‑focused attitude. The position offers a base pay range of $114,000 to $167,000, with higher ranges for certain locations, and eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
