About the Role
The Superintendent 2 will help plan, manage and execute all aspects of assigned projects with some complexity. This position will be responsible for managing material and equipment, assisting with people management, ensuring documentation is complete and meeting project goals to achieve timely and profitable completion of each project. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn. • Lead safety culture, demonstrate commitment to an injury‑free environment, mentor others, investigate incidents and retrain staff as needed. • Manage subcontractors and organize overall job workflow. • Oversee staff, subcontractors, suppliers and programs such as Safety, Quality and EEO for a small project or a major portion of a larger project. • Develop work plans for subcontractors and self‑performed work. • Coordinate and manage care, custody and control of the project site. • Lead daily standup and weekly trade meetings. • Attend, manage and participate in progress and/or project OAC meetings. • Create, manage, change and implement the project schedule in conjunction with the Project Manager. • Track and monitor project budget and costs using the project management system’s cost reports and data from the Project Manager. • Communicate key project information to owners, design team, governing authorities, subcontractors, suppliers and other departments. • Follow the project filing and documentation system; update drawings, logs, diaries and inspection notebooks. • Approve and record unit cost information for weekly reports and complete daily reports, logs and tracking reports. • Evaluate progress on self‑perform work and make adjustments as needed. • Manage material and equipment needs for the project. • Support MOC (Material and Other Costs) and DLSC (Dunn Logistics Service Center) procurement and approval processes. • Assist in selecting formwork, tools and equipment necessary for self‑perform operations. • Manage timecard approval process to ensure accurate hours and proper cost codes. • Ensure quality compliance through specifications, quality standards, in‑house QA/QC and external resources. • Support project closeouts by supervising pre‑punch activities and coordinating with owner, architect and governing authorities. • Participate with field operations leadership and the project team to develop, implement, monitor and adjust a project pre‑plan throughout the lifecycle. • Partner with field leadership to establish field staffing for the assigned project. • Partner with project management to identify schedule and cost impacts of project changes. • Participate in negotiations with the owner and architect to gain agreement for project changes. • Prepare and present for all project review meetings, including monthly reviews and other key meetings. • Participate in project buy‑out meetings with subcontractors and vendors. • Understand and apply terms and conditions of owner and subcontractor contracts. • Identify and recruit top talent. • Lead, support and promote a culture of diversity and inclusion; ensure proactive implementation of JE Dunn’s non‑discrimination policy. • Manage fairly complex stand‑alone projects from start to finish. • Assume responsibility for management, scheduling, production, safety and quality on the project or its portion. • Identify, understand and actively manage project risks. • Manage deliverables from internal resources and functions such as IPS and logistics. • Participate with the project team in project pursuits. • Conduct effective presentations (intermediate). • Apply fundamentals of construction management means and methods to projects. • Build relationships with team members that transcend a project. • Use scheduling software (intermediate). • Manage budgets, maximize profitability and generate future work through relationships (intermediate). • Build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.

Career Path: Superintendent 3. • Use awareness, experience and knowledge to identify problems and recommend solutions for team review and implementation. • Perform work accurately, completely and in a timely manner. • Communicate verbally and in writing (intermediate level). • Proficient in MS Office (intermediate). • Understand project processes and how they support successful completion. • Use project management and accounting software (intermediate). • Use required JE Dunn construction technology (intermediate). • Apply Lean process and philosophy (intermediate). • Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work (intermediate). • Knowledge of self‑perform and labor productivity (intermediate). • Understand organizational structure and available resources. • Knowledge of layout skill (intermediate). • Knowledge of crane flagging and rigging (intermediate). • Understand document changes and impact to the project schedule. • High School Diploma or GED. • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field (preferred). • 5+ years construction experience. • 3+ years field supervision experience. • Experience with Lean principles (preferred). • Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required. • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. • May require periods of travel and/or relocation. • Must be willing to work non‑traditional hours to meet project needs. • Frequent activity: standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling. • Occasional activity: sitting, viewing computer screen.
