About the Role

An Industrial Pipe Fitter will assemble, layout, install and maintain pipe systems. • Read blueprints and specifications to determine scope, locations, quantities and sizes of materials required. • Identify all tools required for tasks. • Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks. • Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe to specifications. • Install valves, hangers, supports, and flanges according to plans and specifications. • Perform tests to ensure the quality of pipe and piping systems. • Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment. • No direct reports, but will oversee helpers and laborers and hold positional authority over them.

What You Bring

The role requires extensive physical effort, including prolonged standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting up to 50 lbs. Workers must be able to work at heights up to 300 ft using proper fall protection, operate outdoors in heat, cold, rain, snow or wind for shifts up to 12 hours, and wear required personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel‑toe boots. A comprehensive tool kit is required, including a metal toolbox with lock, torpedo magnetic level, tape measures, framing squares, various levels, wrenches (crescent, pipe, combination, channel locks), a pipefitter's blue book, torch lighter, chalk line, Allen wrenches, line‑up bar, screwdrivers, tip cleaners, leather gloves, cutting goggles, center finder, hacksaw, ball‑peen hammer, ratchet drive, construction calculator, rain suit and rubber boots, among other essential hand tools. Safety orientation and training, including audio safety essentials, pulmonary function testing and site‑specific instruction, will be provided. • Must have 4+ years working as an Industrial Pipe Fitter or Pipe Fitter Helper. • Must be able to read prints and illustrate thorough knowledge of pipe fitting procedures and skills. • Must have good leadership and communication skills. • Must have experience on an industrial construction project. • Demonstrated industrial construction/maintenance history experience. • Ability to read prints and construction drawings. • Ability to read and interpret technical and manufacturer manuals and instructions. • Knowledge of pipe fitting processes for industrial piping and boiler components in a combined‑cycle power plant. • Must have 4+ years’ experience with pipe‑fitting processes. • Good problem‑solving abilities. • Good aptitude and manual dexterity. • Good reading comprehension. • Ability to work with others – team player. • Ability to work independently – minimal supervision. • Good communication skills with co‑workers and supervisors. • Former Zachry employee. • NCCER certification as an Industrial Pipe Fitter. • Formal/technical education.
