About the Role

The Landfill Laborer position performs various tasks to keep the landfill site clean and safe, including containing loose refuse, directing traffic, and supporting site maintenance. Key responsibilities include operating equipment, handling waste materials, and assisting with traffic control, all while adhering to safety and environmental regulations. • Manually pick up windblown paper along the landfill perimeter and bag it. • Operate a tractor‑mounted mobile vacuum to collect loose paper and refuse around the landfill edge. • Direct truck traffic at the landfill entrance during peak summer periods using verbal and hand signals. • Lift and move construction materials such as lumber, concrete mix bags, and hand tools for site maintenance. • Use hand tools including shovels, picks, axes, and chainsaws for various maintenance tasks. • Separate metal, white goods, lumber, and cardboard manually on the tipping floor. • Provide required licenses in accordance with local, state, federal, environmental, and health‑safety regulations.
