About the Role
The Buyer I is responsible for planning and procuring material requirements to achieve the lowest possible overall cost, drive year‑over‑year productivity savings, and meet inventory reduction commitments for assigned parts and vendors. This role analyzes and forecasts market data to ensure optimal price acquisition. Key duties include identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers; preparing, executing, and reviewing requisitions and purchase orders; and providing commodity forecast data to suppliers to establish appropriate order lot sizes and packaging quantities. The buyer develops and maintains supplier relationships, monitors performance, resolves disputes, and stays current on industry trends, price fluctuations, market conditions, and new products or services. Additional responsibilities involve monitoring and analyzing costs to find expense‑reduction opportunities while maintaining quality and service levels, ensuring all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements, and coordinating with scheduling, manufacturing, and engineering departments to meet deadlines. What You Bring
Education requires a High School Diploma or GED plus at least three years of experience in business, supply chain management, or a related field; no licenses or certifications are required. Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities include effective written and verbal communication, strong decision‑making and problem‑solving capabilities, multitasking, organization, minimal supervision, teamwork, the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment, excellent negotiating skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Work is performed primarily in an indoor professional office environment with frequent exposure to manufacturing facilities that may have seasonal temperature extremes, dust, and occasional chemical fumes. The role requires sitting or standing for up to 95 percent of the workday and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. • Require High School diploma/GED plus 3+ years supply chain or related experience. • Demonstrate strong communication, decision‑making, problem‑solving, and negotiation skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and able to multitask in a fast‑paced environment. • Able to sit/stand most of the day and lift up to 50 lb; work in indoor office and occasional manufacturing settings.
