About the Role

The Principal Investigator will lead Class I‑III surveys, testing, and data recovery projects, designing research methodologies and ensuring compliance with Section 106 of the NHPA, NEPA, ARPA, NAGPRA, and state/local regulations. They will supervise and mentor field staff, coordinate with clients, SHPOs, ASM, federal and tribal agencies, and oversee the preparation of high‑quality technical reports and deliverables. Additionally, the PI will manage project budgets, schedules, and staffing, contribute to business development, and stay current with archaeological research and best practices. • Serve as PI for Class I‑III cultural resource surveys, testing, and data recovery projects. • Design and implement project‑specific research designs and methodologies. • Lead compliance with Section 106 NHPA, NEPA, ARPA, NAGPRA, and state/local regulations. • Supervise and mentor field directors, crew chiefs, archaeologists, and technicians. • Coordinate consultations with clients, SHPOs, ASM, federal/state agencies, and Tribal Nations. • Oversee preparation of technical reports, management summaries, and deliverables. • Manage project budgets, schedules, and staffing to ensure efficiency and profitability. • Contribute to business development through proposal writing and client relationship cultivation. • Conduct public outreach and interpret archaeological resources.

What You Bring

Applicants must hold a master’s or PhD in anthropology, archaeology, or a related field and have at least five years of cultural resource management experience, demonstrating expertise in Southeast archaeology and familiarity with Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Required skills include leading Class I‑III surveys, knowledge of permitting processes, strong technical writing, RPA certification (or ability to obtain), and proficiency with geospatial software such as ArcGIS. The role also demands the ability to conduct public outreach, manage budgets and staff, perform field work involving equipment up to 50 lb, and possess a valid driver’s license. • Hold a master’s or PhD in anthropology, archaeology, or a related field. • Possess a minimum of five years of cultural resource management experience with Southeast archaeology expertise. • Demonstrate knowledge of state and federal permitting processes and RPA certification (or ability to obtain). • Proficient in geospatial and archaeological software (ArcGIS, Collector, Trimble, etc.).
