About the Role
The engineer will plan and model drinking water utility systems, lead a team of junior modelers, and deliver technical findings to clients and regulatory agencies. Collaboration, independent problem‑solving, and adherence to local, state, and federal regulations are essential components of the position. • Plan drinking water utility systems, including supply, transmission, pumping, storage, and distribution. • Develop hydraulic models using Autodesk Innovyze, Bentley WaterGEMS, ESRI ArcGIS, and AutoCAD Civil 3D. • Build, calibrate, and validate models from plans or GIS data, run simulations, interpret results, and produce technical reports. • Present findings to clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders; provide training as needed. • Lead and train Level 1 and Level 2 hydraulic modelers. • Assist in creating task and effort estimates for proposals. • Apply basic engineering principles to solve limited‑scope technical problems. • Gather and correlate primary engineering data using established procedures. • Perform calculations and detailed engineering analysis on routine assignments. • Collaborate and work independently within a dynamic team environment. • Record, analyze, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. • Work under senior team member supervision on hydraulic modeling assignments. • Maintain positive relationships with peers and clients.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a BA/BS in civil or environmental engineering (or equivalent) with at least four years of relevant experience, proficiency in hydraulic modeling software such as Autodesk Innovyze and Bentley WaterGEMS, and strong GIS skills. U.S. citizenship is required, and the ability to travel for up to two weeks at a time is necessary. Preferred qualifications include six years of experience, a North Carolina PE license (or ability to obtain it within six months), and experience with wastewater modeling and water distribution design. • Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering (or equivalent) with 4+ years experience. • Proficiency with water system hydraulic modeling software (Innovyze, WaterGEMS). • GIS experience and ability to work through GIS platforms. • Ability to travel up to two weeks for field investigations. • U.S. citizenship required. • Preferred: 6 years related experience and strong technical drive. • Preferred: North Carolina PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months. • Preferred: Experience with wastewater modeling software (e.g., Autodesk InfoWorks). • Preferred: Experience in planning, permitting, and designing water distribution projects. • Preferred: Engineering Intern certificate.
