About the Role
As the Group Learning Instructional Designer you will be responsible for the learning outcomes of Downer Group-wide initiatives. This involves identifying the target audience’s learning needs and developing engaging eLearning and online materials that meet those needs. You will build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure learning solutions align with organisational goals, and design fit-for-purpose digital experiences that combine solid instructional design with creative visual and multimedia elements. Collaboration with subject-matter experts will be key to creating relevant, engaging content across multiple learning styles. You will also gather feedback, lead post-implementation reviews, provide regular program status updates, and maintain templates, tools and branding to ensure consistency across the organisation.

What You Bring

We are seeking a creative Instructional Designer to join our team on a permanent basis, reporting to the Group Learning and Development Manager. The role is part of a collaborative, dynamic team that is geographically dispersed across Australia and New Zealand, so the ability to work autonomously is essential. The ideal candidate is a highly driven, customer-focused professional with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships at all levels. Excellent communication and critical-thinking abilities are essential to deliver impactful outcomes in a dynamic environment. • Minimum 4 years instructional design experience in a complex, multi-site organization. • Strong knowledge of adult education and online learning principles. • Advanced eLearning development skills (Adobe Suite, Vyond, Articulate). • Experience designing face-to-face learning solutions. • Ability to work autonomously within a geographically dispersed team.
