About the Role

As part of HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group, you will help design critical infrastructure for the digital age, shaping spaces where people work, connect, and thrive, from high‑performance data centers to dynamic commercial environments. The role encompasses overseeing project execution, contributing to business development initiatives, and maintaining high standards of quality and profitability within the electrical practice. • Lead the Illinois/Indiana electrical engineering team, championing technical excellence, quality, recruitment, and staff development. • Collaborate with market sector leaders to ensure engineering excellence across commercial, civic, industrial, federal, water, transportation, healthcare, education, and mission‑critical facilities. • Engage with clients and community stakeholders; participate in marketing, proposal development, and industry conferences. • Serve as design lead or engineering project manager for key projects, overseeing planning, organization, control, and evaluation. • Manage the electrical work group’s operations, including profitability, morale, and quality control. • Implement, monitor, and support company policies while working cooperatively with business class directors, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers. • Participate in nationwide work‑sharing and electrical practice development with HDR engineers. • Active involvement in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR’s technical expertise and brand.

What You Bring

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an electrical emphasis. • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a closely related professional field. • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. • Professional engineering registration and related technical experience. • Proven experience developing and managing diverse teams. • Ability to work cooperatively with area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers. • Strong commitment to actively participating in HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
