About the Role

• Plan drinking water utility systems, including supply, transmission, pumping, storage, and distribution. • Perform water system hydraulic modeling using Autodesk Innovyze, Bentley software, ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office. • Build, calibrate, validate, and simulate hydraulic models from plans or GIS data, interpret results, and prepare technical reports. • Present technical findings to clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders, and provide training as needed. • Lead and train Level 1 and Level 2 hydraulic modelers in modeling software and related skills. • Develop task and effort estimates for proposal support. • Apply engineering principles to devise solutions for limited‑scope technical problems. • Gather and correlate primary engineering data using established procedures. • Conduct routine or detailed engineering calculations and analyses. • Work collaboratively and independently in a dynamic team environment while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. • Record and interpret data, perform analyses, and maintain positive relationships with peers and clients.

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated and talented Water Utilities (Hydraulics Engineer‑Modeler) to lead various water utility planning assignments for immediate employment at AECOM’s offices in Raleigh, NC, Charlotte, NC, Miami, FL, Tampa, FL, Atlanta, GA, Columbia, SC, Roanoke, VA or Virginia Beach, VA with a hybrid schedule. The candidate will collaborate with AECOM’s Southeast Modeling Group on Southeast U.S. projects and occasional national opportunities, performing tasks such as evaluating potable and reclaimed water distribution systems, capacity analysis, condition assessments, storage and pumping evaluations, and master planning for federal, private, and municipal clients. The position is based in the United States (Raleigh, NC) with a hybrid work model. Compensation ranges from $107,000 to $128,000 per year, based on location and qualifications. U.S. citizenship is required; no relocation assistance or sponsorship for employment authorization is available. • Minimum requirements: BA/BS in civil or environmental engineering (or equivalent) with at least 4 years of related experience. • Minimum requirements: Experience with water system hydraulic modeling software (Autodesk Innovyze, Bentley WaterGEMS). • Minimum requirements: GIS experience and ability to work within GIS platforms. • Minimum requirements: Ability to travel up to two weeks for field investigations and U.S. citizenship. • Preferred: 6 years of related experience. • Preferred: Strong work ethic, technical proficiency, ambition, and drive. • Preferred: Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in North Carolina or ability to obtain within 6 months. • Preferred: Experience with wastewater modeling software (e.g., Autodesk InfoWorks). • Preferred: Experience in planning, permitting, and designing water distribution, storage, and pumping projects. • Preferred: Engineering Intern certificate.
