About the Role

The Safety Manager leads the field safety program, ensuring compliance with company, owner, and regulatory policies while fostering a culture of safety throughout construction sites. This role coordinates safety communications, audits, incident reporting, and investigations, working closely with project leaders, insurance contacts, and external agencies. The manager also develops and delivers training strategies, monitors safety metrics, and supports diversity and inclusion initiatives within JE Dunn. • Manages and implements the field safety program and team for construction projects. • Communicates safety philosophies and values to ensure understanding, compliance, and acceptance of company safety programs and policies. • Acts as a resource to help staff interpret company, owner, and government policies and recommendations. • Compiles accident statistics and trend analysis, recommending changes to safety programs. • Administers and monitors drug and alcohol testing per company, federal, and state requirements. • Implements accident and incident reporting protocols for timely submission through proper channels. • Assists safety team members in accident investigations, ensuring proper documentation and implementation of abatements. • Works with external insurance contacts to manage safety‑related claims and monitors medical treatment of injured employees. • Conducts regular safety audits, identifies hazards, documents findings, recommends abatement, and follows up to ensure resolution. • Develops and implements training strategies and processes to support training objectives. • Partners with leadership to develop needs assessments, gap analyses, and strategic training plans. • Analyzes training needs to develop new or improve existing training programs. • Creates effective training methods such as digital learning, classroom instruction, skill qualifications, and on‑the‑job training. • Assists in identifying and implementing technologies to enhance learning experiences. • Monitors company safety metrics to identify areas for training improvement and intervention. • Provides in‑person and virtual training sessions and ensures training record retention. • Leads, supports, and promotes a culture of diversity and inclusion, ensuring proactive implementation of non‑discrimination policies. • Enforces all federal, state, local, and company safety regulations. • Recognizes hazardous situations and implements corrective measures. • Builds relationships with team members that transcend individual projects.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, construction management, or a related field, or possess equivalent experience, along with at least eight years of construction safety experience and up to two years of team‑lead experience. A valid, unrestricted driver’s license is required.
