About the Role
In this role you will support the Range Supervisor by maintaining and operating range facilities, ensuring site security, and complying with standing orders and safety procedures. You will also conduct inspections and upkeep of training areas, deliver specialist range performance, and provide input for reporting. Downer plans, creates, and sustains essential public services across Australia and New Zealand, managing critical infrastructure from hospitals to data centres and defence partnerships. The company is sovereign‑owned, ASX‑listed, and has been recognised as Estate & Infrastructure Business of the Year (2025) and Prime Contractor of the Year (2024‑2025). • Support the Range Supervisor with maintenance, operation, and site security of range facilities. • Perform inspections, upkeep, and minor repairs of training areas and ranges. • Ensure compliance with range standing orders and safety procedures. • Deliver specialist training area and range performance. • Contribute data and insights for Range Supervisor reporting. • Provide facilities maintenance and caretaker experience.

What You Bring
We are seeking permanent staff for the role of Leading Hand Range Operator at Lone Pine Barracks, Singleton NSW, commencing February 2026. The position is open to candidates from any background, whether they have defence experience, industry knowledge, or transferable skills, and we are committed to building a respectful, valued, and empowered workplace. • Hold a current open driver’s licence (Medium Rigid Truck Licence desirable). • Complete the Range Induction Course (desirable) and relevant Public Safety Training Package units. • Obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (Australian citizenship required). • Demonstrate strong work ethic, positive attitude, and commitment to high‑quality outcomes.
