About the Role
The Bookkeeper reports to the Community Manager and oversees daily operations and financial functions of a housing community. In addition to rent delinquency and collection duties that optimize cash flow, the Bookkeeper manages personnel, leasing, maintenance, administration, and risk management when a Community Manager is absent, ensuring compliance with Asset Living policies, safety standards, and fair‑housing guidelines. • Post all payments and income accurately and timely. • Process and reconcile daily accounts receivable. • Monitor bad debt, issue late notices, contact residents/guarantors, and prepare evictions. • Ensure the property meets budgeted revenue, expenses, and net operating income. • Post resident charges and utility bill backs; handle move‑out charges and security‑deposit refunds. • Complete end‑of‑month closings and reporting; maintain organized resident records. • Screen, hire, train, coach, and develop on‑site staff; enforce compliance with company policies. • Provide ongoing staff training, counseling, and performance support. • Oversee leasing activities: show units, process lease documentation, and maintain accurate reporting. • Implement marketing strategies per the annual plan and develop resident retention programs. • Address resident complaints and requests to ensure satisfaction. • Manage customer service, monitor maintenance request turnaround, and conduct regular property inspections. • Supervise overall business functions, control resources, obtain vendor bids, and ensure timely repairs.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a high school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree or two years of housing‑industry experience is preferred. Basic computer and on‑site software proficiency are required, along with knowledge of Fair Housing Laws and OSHA regulations. The role requires prolonged periods of standing or sitting, frequent movement around the property, occasional climbing of ladders or stairs, and the ability to lift or move objects up to 25 lb. Employees must be able to work overtime, weekends, and night hours for emergencies and operate vehicles or golf carts as needed.

Benefits
