About the Role

The Landfill Gas Technician reports to the Gas Operations Manager and is responsible for operating and maintaining the landfill gas collection and control system (GCCS). This role ensures the system functions within state and federal environmental regulations while optimizing performance and cost efficiency. • Operate and maintain GCCS efficiently to ensure regulatory compliance and performance optimization. • Calibrate, operate, and maintain electronic data collection devices for landfill gas optimization. • Collect and manage data from wellfield extraction and environmental monitoring locations. • Implement the GCCS preventative maintenance plan. • Operate and maintain liquid management system pumps, troubleshooting and monitoring liquid levels. • Perform wellfield valve and vacuum adjustments, collect data, and interpret results. • Use PVC or HDPE piping and associated equipment for piping maintenance. • Develop understanding of environmental regulations related to GCCS operations. • Follow health and safety procedures and provide on‑call response to GCCS malfunctions.

Candidates must possess a REAL ID or an acceptable TSA‑approved alternative for travel or access to federal property. • Complete WM Landfill Gas Technician I Training. • Valid unrestricted driver’s license (required). • Experience in environmental fieldwork, construction, electrical, mechanical, or other hands‑on environments (preferred). • Knowledge of gas collection systems, pumps, blowers, or flare systems (preferred). • Technical or trade school training in environmental science, mechanical systems, instrumentation, or related field (preferred). • Experience with PVC or HDPE piping and components (preferred). • Experience using data logging systems (preferred). • Mechanical aptitude and experience troubleshooting pumps, motors, or pneumatic equipment (preferred). • Fundamental computer data entry and interpretation skills (preferred). • Ability to work independently in field settings with minimal supervision (preferred).
