About the Role

The UGE Operator is responsible for operating the machines required to install underground conduit, cables, transformers, pull boxes, transformer pads, and switchgear for customers. This role supports the line team and collaborates with other department personnel. • Operate a variety of jobsite equipment safely, such as mobile cranes, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, trenchers and digger‑derricks. • Perform routine service, safety checks and minor repairs on machines, including oil and fluid inspections. • Inspect and stake the work area prior to digging to ensure proper utility location. • Assist maintenance crews or work as a laborer when not operating equipment. • Excavate around live underground and overhead utilities while adhering to safety standards. • Train, guide and supervise lower‑graded operators and laborers as required. • Load trucks in a safe, accident‑free manner. • Identify and implement improvements to reduce turnaround times and streamline work processes.

What You Bring

The position is physically demanding, requiring frequent bending, squatting, climbing, lifting up to 50 lb, and work in inclement weather. Employees must have clear vision, precise hand‑eye coordination and the ability to distinguish colors. The company will adjust duties or schedules as needed to accommodate individuals with disabilities. • Minimum qualifications: high school diploma or equivalent, 1 year relevant experience, valid driver’s license. • Preferred qualifications: 2+ years experience, OSHA 10 certification, CDL Class A driver’s license. • Physical requirements: lift/carry up to 50 lb, frequent bending, squatting, climbing, work in extreme weather, good hand‑eye coordination and color identification.
