About the Role
In this role you will learn and assist with the installation, service, repair, and inspection of fire‑protection piping, valves, and accessories for commercial and industrial applications. You will support the foreman in installing and repairing wet, dry, pre‑action, and deluge sprinkler systems, follow all safety policies, maintain proper documentation, and perform physical labor such as carrying equipment up to 70 lb and working from ladders, scaffolding, or high‑lift equipment. The position requires alternate shifts, weekends, travel and overnight stays as needed, and adherence to company safety procedures. • Assist foreman with installation and repair of wet, dry, pre‑action, and deluge sprinkler systems • Carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 70 lb • Work in unusual positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high‑lift equipment • Maintain a clean and safe work area • Follow verbal and written instructions and all safety policies • Document work performed accurately and promptly • Enroll in and meet the requirements of Grinnell’s approved Apprenticeship Program • Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors

What You Bring
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be at least 18 years old, hold a valid driver’s license, and have reliable transportation for job sites and classroom instruction. You should be physically capable of the essential functions of the apprenticeship program, able to work well with others, and be enrolled in Grinnell’s approved Apprenticeship Program while meeting its standards.
