Job Highlights
About the Role
• Build wooded structures, such as stairs, concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters according to blueprints or oral instructions, and install partitions and cabinet work. • Examine blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine required materials and dimensions of structures or fixtures. • Select, load, and haul job material to the work site. • Prepare layout of form or fixture using lines or grades. • Measure boards, timbers, or plywood with square, measuring tape, and ruler; mark cutting lines and shape materials using saws, chisels, and planes. • Verify accuracy of structures with transit, plumb bob, square, and level. • Use carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screwdrivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors, and pry bars. • Nail cleats (braces) across boards to construct concrete‑supporting forms. • Brace forms with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts for concrete piers, footings, and walls. • Erect framework for structures and lay sub‑flooring. • Cut and assemble timbers to build trestles and cofferdams. • Erect scaffolding and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms, and gangways. • Construct forms, chutes, and align form panels for pouring concrete and grout. • Fit and install prefabricated window frames, doors, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finished hardware. • Fit and nail sheathing on outer walls and roofs; set and brace anchor bolts. • Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities with tools and equipment. • Operate electric and pneumatic tools. • Rig materials when needed. • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. • Apply shop mathematics to solve problems. • Plan work and select proper tools. • Compare and discern differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects. • Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings. • Make decisions based on measurable criteria.

What You Bring
Journeyman positions require at least three years of documented field experience in a chosen craft discipline, with the ability to read and interpret instructions and independently document, plan, and perform work activities. The role involves constructing, fabricating, installing, and dismantling form work and fixtures of metal, wood, and other accessories. Candidates typically need a high school diploma or equivalent combined with relevant experience. They should possess knowledge of common concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, rely on established guidelines, and work under immediate supervision, reporting to a supervisor or manager. The job demands physical stamina, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lb, as well as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, and fine finger work, with frequencies ranging from occasional to constant.
