About the Role
• Inspect and oversee transportation construction projects such as bridges, roads, traffic signals, signage, ITS, and underground facilities. • Monitor and record contractor work progress and material quality using FieldBook and ProjectWise. • Verify implementation and maintenance of traffic control measures during construction. • Maintain communication with AECOM supervisors, MDOT, local agencies, contractors, and the public. • Assist with training entry‑level employees. • Perform NPDES inspections. • Set own project deadlines. • Provide on‑the‑job training to new employees. • Monitor compliance with quality, performance, specifications, and code requirements through inspections. • Conduct daily field inspections and maintain inspection records. • Participate in punch lists, testing, and commissioning. • Track quality assurance progress. • Provide input for documentation of area and equipment turnovers.

You will be a key player on regional projects with opportunities to work nationally or internationally. • High School Diploma or equivalent required. • Minimum 4+ years relevant experience or equivalent education. • MDOT certifications required or must be earned within 6 months of hire. • 8 years MDOT, other state DOT, or local agency construction inspection experience preferred. • Thorough understanding of construction principles and practices. • Ability to document events, issues, and variances accurately. • Strong written and verbal communication with construction personnel and engineers. • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. • Overnight travel within the state may be required. • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
