About the Role
The Aerospace Quality Engineer will serve as the lead engineer for AS9102 First‑Article Inspections (FAIs) in the Greer, SC region, acting as the primary liaison between the customer and KBR to meet quality and schedule expectations. This role involves coordinating inspection assignments, providing both onsite and remote support, and ensuring compliance with contractual and customer specifications. Key duties include conducting comprehensive inspections, using specialized FAI software, generating estimates and technical feedback during proposals, and performing audits and source inspections of vendors and subcontractors. The engineer will also lead root‑cause analyses, track corrective actions, gather statistical data to monitor quality trends, and maintain up‑to‑date QMS documentation. • Conduct and document AS9102 First‑Article Inspections (FAIs) onsite and remotely. • Assign, track, and manage FAI assignments for the KBR team in Greer, SC. • Coordinate schedules and requirements with customers and suppliers. • Use AS9102 FAI software to generate ballooned drawings and Forms 1‑3. • Provide estimates, quotes, and technical feedback during proposal phases. • Perform tests, audits, and source inspections to ensure compliance with contract and customer specifications. • Conduct sampling inspections, root‑cause analysis, and follow‑up audits on corrective actions. • Collect statistical data, monitor quality trends, and update QMS documentation. • Train engineers, suppliers, and contract personnel on FAI, Six Sigma, and manufacturing process control. • Lead implementation of advanced quality processes such as variation reduction and mistake‑proofing. • Prepare and present quality metrics, progress reports, and program reviews for management. • Prepare AS9102 FAIs, including ballooned drawings and Forms 1‑3. • Review build operations and PFMEAs to recommend scrap reduction and audit mitigation. • Conduct RCCA activities collaborating with quality and manufacturing engineering.

What You Bring
The position requires the ability to prepare AS9102 FAIs, including ballooned drawings and Forms 1‑3, and to review build operations and PFMEAs for improvement opportunities. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, hold a bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related discipline, and possess at least two years of experience in manufacturing, quality, or engineering—preferably within aerospace electronics or comparable military environments. Preferred qualifications include a proven record of supplier collaboration, Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification, and experience with automotive or aerospace products, APQP/PPAP processes, and advanced RCCA techniques. Strong communication, analytical, and risk‑assessment skills are essential, as is the ability to lead problem‑solving teams with minimal supervision. • Hold U.S. citizenship; Bachelor’s degree in engineering, materials, supply chain, or related field. • Minimum two years experience in manufacturing/assembly, quality, or engineering, preferably aerospace electronics. • Demonstrated self‑starter attitude with minimal supervision and team‑leadership experience. • Strong written and oral communication and high analytical problem‑solving ability. • Preferred: Proven supplier collaboration track record and Green Belt or higher Six Sigma certification. • Preferred: Experience with automotive/aerospace products and APQP/PPAP processes.
