About the Role

The Apprentice B Lineman role leverages heavy‑equipment expertise to support the construction and upkeep of the nation's power grid. You will help install, repair, and maintain overhead electrical distribution networks. The position may require rapid deployment for emergency restoration after severe weather. • Ensure personal and crew safety while working on energized and de‑energized overhead lines. • Assist line‑workers in meeting project objectives, including storm restoration efforts. • Operate vehicles and heavy equipment professionally in powerline construction. • Perform tasks such as stringing overhead wire, setting poles and anchors, and installing transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, cross‑arms, insulators, switches, and switchgear. • Inspect and maintain rubber goods, personal protective equipment, hand tools, and company vehicles. • Follow established safety rules, company policies, and proper use of PPE and radios. • Apply basic rigging, hand‑line, knot‑tying, and Kellum grip techniques. • Identify primary and secondary voltage, recognize induced voltage, and check voltage on transformers. • Conduct basic bucket‑rescue/escape procedures and adhere to minimum approach distances.

What You Bring

The job requires frequent standing, walking, climbing wood or steel structures, and handling tools while lifting up to 50 lb. Workers must have adequate close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision and be able to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions. The work environment may expose personnel to fumes, airborne particles, vibration, loud noise, and extreme temperatures typical of power‑line construction sites. Candidates must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License within 60 days of hire and be capable of operating heavy equipment and traveling long distances on short notice. Strong communication abilities and flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, are essential. The role also demands a team‑oriented, self‑motivated attitude and strict compliance with company policies.
