About the Role

All drivers must operate their vehicles in compliance with WM safety rules, OSHA, DOT, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations, and complete pre‑ and post‑trip inspections using the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report. They are required to report unsafe conditions, incidents, or service interruptions to the Operations Manager or Dispatch, and to communicate customer requests promptly. Drivers follow assigned routes, dump receptacles cleanly, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and assist fellow drivers as needed. • Operate vehicles safely following WM safety policies, OSHA, DOT, and all legal regulations. • Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete DVIR documentation. • Report unsafe situations, incidents, accidents, or service interruptions to Operations Manager or Dispatch immediately. • Communicate customer requests and route changes to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Follow assigned routes, dump receptacles cleanly, and leave sites free of debris. • Complete end‑of‑day check‑out paperwork and assist other drivers as needed. • Perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, and handling.

What You Bring

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end load‑lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclables to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once legal load capacity is reached. Commercial drivers handle container pick‑up, often maneuvering loads exceeding 1,000 lb and navigating congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots, requiring advanced backing skills. Residential drivers collect household waste in residential settings, while roll‑off drivers load and move large open‑top or compactor containers, sometimes working in tight overhead industrial environments. Candidates need at least one year of experience operating a vehicle that requires a CDL, or equivalent recent military driving experience, be at least 18 years old, and be legally eligible to work in the country. A valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License with an air‑brake endorsement is mandatory, and a high‑school diploma or GED is preferred. The role involves frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing activities, with accommodations available for individuals with disabilities. • Maintain a valid Class A or Class B CDL with air‑brake endorsement and at least one year driving experience. • Meet minimum age (18) and legal work eligibility requirements. • Possess a high school diploma or GED (preferred).
