About the Role

The Remediation Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and oversight of groundwater and surface‑water remediation systems within the Water Solutions group. This role combines hands‑on field work, engineering design, project management, and client interaction, guiding projects from concept to construction and commissioning. The engineer is expected to deliver high‑quality, regulatory‑compliant treatment system designs while ensuring safety and budget adherence. • Manage water‑treatment and remediation projects from proposal through delivery, controlling scope, budget, and schedule. • Design temporary dewatering and permanent remedial systems, including filtration, carbon adsorption, air stripping, and chemical treatment. • Develop engineering drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and permit applications. • Perform hydrogeologic and contaminant transport evaluations to inform system design. • Support pilot tests, treatability studies, and system startups. • Provide field oversight during installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring. • Review deliverables for QA/QC compliance with ECS standards and enforce safety policies. • Prepare project invoices and assist with collections. • Cultivate and expand relationships with private and public sector clients. • Prepare technical proposals, scopes of work, and budgets in partnership with senior staff. • Represent ECS in client, contractor, and regulatory agency meetings. • Mentor junior engineers and field staff, promoting technical standards and a safety‑first culture. • Lead technically challenging projects with measurable environmental impact.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering (Master’s preferred); PE licensure or ability to obtain reciprocity. • Minimum seven years’ experience designing and managing groundwater/surface‑water remediation and treatment systems. • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Autodesk for PFDs and P&IDs and experience with hydraulic and transport modeling tools (e.g., MODFLOW, MT3D, GIS). • Strong understanding of hydrogeologic and chemical processes affecting contaminant behavior. • Ability to oversee field operations, including startup, sampling, and troubleshooting. • Proven project‑management skills delivering projects on schedule and within budget. • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. • OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification (or ability to obtain) and valid driver’s license with willingness to travel up to 30%. • Experience with NPDES or temporary discharge permitting. • Familiarity with advanced in‑situ or ex‑situ remediation technologies such as bioremediation, chemical oxidation/reduction, or PFAS treatment. • Experience with vapor mitigation or air‑handling systems. • Demonstrated client‑facing and business‑development experience.
