About the Role
In this role the Deputy Construction Manager will support the Project Manager through tendering, bid analysis, and will manage awarded construction contracts, coordinating contractors, monitoring budgets and schedules, and delivering weekly status reports. The position also involves quality control, change‑order management, safety compliance, and client interaction throughout the project lifecycle. • Support Project Manager with tendering, bid reviews, and analysis. • Manage awarded construction contracts and coordinate subcontractors. • Monitor project budgets, schedules, and contractual commitments. • Produce weekly construction status reports and maintain concise logs. • Conduct quality control and resolve fabrication or installation issues. • Administer change orders and ensure compliance with contract terms. • Enforce safety, health, and environmental standards on site. • Manage RFIs, material submittals, and shop drawing reviews. • Interface with clients and facilitate project turnover documentation. • Oversee equipment testing, commissioning, and standards implementation. • Maintain accurate records meeting contract and regulatory requirements.

What You Bring
WSP is searching for a full‑time Deputy Construction Manager who can work from any of its US offices, including locations such as Tempe/Phoenix, AZ; San Diego, CA; Chicago, IL; Las Vegas, NV; Dallas, TX; Austin, TX; Houston, TX; and Tampa, FL. The candidate will provide construction and technical direction on building and facilities projects, overseeing small‑to‑medium multi‑discipline projects from assignment through commissioning and turnover. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree, at least five years of construction‑management experience on light‑industrial or commercial projects, and a proven record of working with vendors, subcontractors, and internal resources. Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills are required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn industry software such as Procore, Blue‑Beam, or AutoCAD. The job demands physical stamina for field work, the ability to travel up to 100 % of the time—including overnight stays—and compliance with drug, background, and motor‑vehicle checks. Flexibility to work varied hours in both office and on‑site environments is essential. • Possess a bachelor’s degree and ≥5 years construction‑management experience. • Demonstrated ability to lead vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors. • Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation capabilities. • Proficient in Microsoft Office; willing to learn Procore, Blue‑Beam, AutoCAD. • Able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and schedules. • Physical ability to stand, stoop, and work extended hours in field settings. • Travel up to 100 % with potential overnight stays; pass drug, background, and MV record checks.
