About the Role
In this position you will inspect and maintain air‑conditioning and HVAC equipment, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues, and install or calibrate new units and thermostatic controls. You will also service refrigeration equipment, maintain chilled and hot water systems, assemble metal ductwork, and assist in system planning and design. Detailed maintenance records are kept to meet city, state and EPA regulations, while safety risks are identified and mitigated in collaboration with management. • Inspect and maintain HVAC systems to ensure efficient operation. • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical malfunctions in heating and cooling units. • Install, replace, and calibrate HVAC equipment and thermostatic controls. • Service refrigeration equipment, including refrigerators, ice machines, gas packs, and heat pumps. • Maintain chilled and hot water supply systems and adjust internal controls. • Assemble and install metal ductwork and assist in HVAC system planning and design. • Keep detailed maintenance records to comply with city, state, and EPA regulations. • Identify and mitigate safety risks to maintain a safe working environment. • Collaborate with management to support safety and operational standards.

What You Bring
Carrier is seeking a Commercial HVAC Journeyman Service Technician to deliver expert field service across commercial sites. This role emphasizes hands‑on problem solving, technical expertise, and professionalism that has defined the company for over a century. Technicians work directly with customers, using world‑class training, tools, and continuous learning opportunities. Candidates must have at least five years of practical HVAC experience, be able to lift or push 50 lb, and work in confined spaces, on ladders or rooftops. A high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license acceptable to the insurer are required. Physical stamina for standing, crawling, sitting, squatting and climbing is essential. Preferred qualifications include a basic understanding of building automation controls, strong written and verbal communication skills, and experience with Salesforce or ServiceMax.
