About the Role
• Contribute to long‑term strategy for Energy Unit geotechnics development • Oversee ground characterisation • Design foundations, substructures, earthworks, slope stability, and retaining walls from feasibility to detailed design and construction • Design retaining wall systems • Provide technical oversight of ground investigations (scope, specifications, supervision, GIRs, GBRs) • Oversee engineering geology design for deep basements, earthworks and slope stability • Support business development with inputs to bids and proposals • Travel to project sites for delivery and client liaison • Manage disciplinary design teams or act as discipline lead on major projects

What You Bring
The candidate must be able to direct and deliver multiple concurrent projects on time and within budget, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be comfortable leading technical teams and liaising with clients. A Master’s degree in civil engineering (geotechnics/engineering geology), chartered status and relevant experience in the energy market are essential. The company supports agile hybrid working, promotes equality, diversity and inclusion, and provides accessibility support throughout the recruitment process. • Master’s degree in civil engineering (geotechnics/engineering geology) or related field • Relevant geotechnical experience • Chartered Engineer status (ICE or Geological Society) • Experience managing small engineering teams • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally • Experience in energy market sectors such as transmission & distribution, renewable generation, nuclear or nuclear defence • Proven ability to mentor early‑career engineers • PhD in civil engineering (geotechnics/engineering geology) (desirable) • Offshore capability and experience (desirable)
