About the Role

Senior Mechanical Engineers – Freight Rolling Stock (Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne). Lead the engineering excellence behind Australia’s freight rail network. Reporting to the engineering manager, the role is responsible for high‑quality mechanical engineering outcomes that enhance safety, reliability, and performance across freight fleets. • Develop engineering specifications, calculations, layouts, production drawings, technical reports, and cost estimates. • Define system requirements and deliver reference designs for new or modified mechanical systems. • Integrate mechanical systems into locomotives and wagons while ensuring compliance with standards and regulations. • Support investigations, engineering changes, and technical problem‑solving across freight rolling stock assets. • Provide technical leadership and drive continuous improvement initiatives. • Collaborate with a strong focus on safety, quality, and engineering excellence.

What You Bring

We are now seeking senior mechanical engineers with deep freight rolling stock experience to design, integrate, and deliver mechanical systems for locomotives and wagons. • Hold tertiary qualifications in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Mechatronic Engineering. • Demonstrate rail engineering experience with freight rolling stock (locomotives and wagons). • Produce clear, structured engineering documentation with strong technical writing and communication skills. • Exhibit solid computer literacy with engineering systems, data, and technical information.
