About the Role
• Manage bridge projects primarily in Ohio and other locations as required. • Perform complex structural analysis, design calculations, drawings, and details for bridge projects. • Lead bridge and structural tasks, developing and reporting production work plans and calculations. • Assist with design management, review processes, and permitting through external agencies. • Support business development, client presentations, and proposal preparation for Ohio bridge projects. • Coordinate submittals, meetings, and client comments to ensure successful project delivery and satisfaction. • Attend virtual and in‑person client meetings. • Lead technical staff and sub‑consultants to meet project deadlines. • Develop, monitor, and maintain engineering budgets for major bridge projects. • Prepare project scopes and schedules for Ohio DOT pursuits. • Mentor, train, and review work performed by junior engineering staff.

What You Bring
GFT is seeking a Project Manager – Bridge Engineer to join the Ohio bridge practice within its dynamic structures group. The role is hybrid, with a preference for candidates who can be in the Cleveland/NE Ohio office three days per week. The successful candidate will expand technical leadership and project strategy skills while guiding complex bridge work across Ohio, strengthening client relationships, and supporting multidisciplinary team growth. This position provides opportunities to become a bridge expert, influence project pursuits, and lay the groundwork for future leadership at GFT. • Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering. • Ohio Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within six months. • Nine plus years of bridge engineering experience, including project management. • Established relationships with Ohio DOT and local municipalities. • Experience with Ohio DOT bridge design practices, AASHTO, and AREMA standards. • Proficiency in AASHTOWare and BrR; preferred: LEAP Concrete/Bridge, CSI Bridge, MIDAS Civil. • Working knowledge of Autodesk platform for plan development. • Strong communication, technical report writing, and structural problem analysis skills. • Preferred: experience with MicroStation, Open Roads, and Open Bridge Designer.
