About the Role

The Component Design Engineer (Inlets, Nacelles, Installations & Exhaust) will join Rolls‑Royce’s global Structures & Controls Engineering, Technology & Safety team in Indianapolis, IN, working three days per week on‑site. In this role you will design, analyze and deliver high‑performance gas‑turbine INIE hardware, ensuring robustness for manufacturing and supporting validation and production release. • Develop new component designs and design changes for high‑performance gas‑turbine INIE hardware. • Create design concepts, perform dimensional analysis, and prepare technical presentations and documents. • Conduct analyses to validate suitability for new engine applications and existing engine performance. • Present and defend design solutions to program leadership and stakeholders. • Support supply chain activities, including supplier documentation review and change proposals. • Address manufacturing, assembly, service and aftermarket issues to keep production on target. • Investigate hardware failures, perform root‑cause analysis, and document corrective actions. • Share investigation findings with the global turbomachinery team in compliance with export controls.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a B.S. (or higher) in mechanical engineering and be a U.S. citizen; preferred experience includes technical writing, tube‑bending, sheet‑metal and composite design, electrical harnesses, and new‑product introduction. The role closes on 13 Feb 2026 and is graded at GG09. • Bachelor’s (or Master’s/PhD) degree in mechanical engineering; U.S. citizenship required. • Minimum 1 + year experience in mechanical design. • Technical writing ability and experience with tube‑bending, sheet‑metal fabrication, composite layups, or electrical harness design (preferred). • Experience in New Product Introduction environments. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with customers, suppliers, engineering teams and shop floor personnel.
