About the Role
The Staff Civil Engineer leads project teams through the planning, evaluation, design, and implementation phases of civil engineering projects. This role provides technical leadership across civil, environmental, construction, and industrial domains, guiding both study and design phases. • Provide guidance to stakeholders on engineering requirements for construction and design modifications. • Render and communicate designs using design software and drawing tools. • Compute design specifications such as water flow rates, traffic demand, and earthwork balance. • Analyze drawings, blueprints, aerial photos, surveys, maps, and topographic data to plan projects. • Draft and present project reports, including detention and engineering due diligence reports. • Perform calculations to estimate material, equipment, and labor costs. • Collaborate with architects, contractors, engineers, and surveyors to ensure project progress. • Monitor project progress and verify compliance with design specifications and standards. • Teach and explain company methodologies to team members. • Apply intermediate knowledge of design tools and civil engineering practices. • Perform fundamental site design, including detention systems. • Attend meetings, association events, and networking activities to build contacts. • Manage assigned co‑ops/interns and represent the company professionally. • Develop knowledge of state and local regulations. • Identify and solve complex engineering problems. • Maintain high attention to detail and accuracy. • Perform prolonged desk work, lift up to 15 lb, travel to project sites, and navigate construction areas.

What You Bring
The engineer regularly collaborates with internal departments, clients, and occasional public agencies, while rarely engaging in sales activities. The role requires a professional presence and intermediate proficiency in at least two engineering software packages. A Professional Engineering license is not required. Candidates need a civil engineering or related degree and must have at least two years of continuous experience in the field. While a Professional Engineering license is advantageous, it is not a requirement. The position demands a solid foundation in engineering concepts, proficiency with design software, and strong analytical and communication abilities. These personal qualities support Kleingers’ commitment to ethical practice, client focus, and lasting relationships. • Hold a civil engineering degree; PE licensure a plus. • Possess 2+ years (preferably 3‑5) civil engineering experience. • Demonstrate public speaking ability and execute basic design projects end‑to‑end. • Understand civil engineering principles, CAD, and related software. • Communicate effectively in verbal and written forms. • Exhibit detail‑orientation, self‑starting initiative, collaboration, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
