About the Role
We are hiring Traffic Monitoring Operators for our Atlanta Transportation Management Center. The role operates on the 2nd shift (2 pm‑10:30 pm) or 3rd shift (10 pm‑6:30 am) with a pay rate of $22 per hour, using advanced traffic management software to monitor roadways, manage incidents, and dispatch Safety Service Patrol personnel. Operators monitor intelligent transportation systems, including cameras, dynamic message signs, and ramp meters, to detect and verify events that affect traffic flow and safety. They log incidents, update response plans, dispatch roadside assistance, and communicate with GDOT staff, emergency responders, and the traveling public. • Use ATMS software to monitor cameras, dynamic message signs, and ramp meters on freeways. • Detect and verify traffic events such as crashes, debris, stalled vehicles, and construction impacts. • Log events and lane closures in software applications. • Dispatch Safety Service Patrol operators for roadside assistance. • Provide clear directions to incident locations for responders and motorists. • Update sign messaging and traveler information on 511GA based on response plans. • Monitor weather conditions and issue notifications about roadway impacts. • Coordinate with GDOT signal personnel for traffic signal management. • Maintain asset records, equipment inventories, and contact lists. • Communicate with GDOT staff, emergency agencies, law enforcement, and towing services via radio and phone. • Answer public calls, provide traffic information, and document communications accurately. • Follow standard operating procedures and participate in required training and certification.

What You Bring
The minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, the ability to remain stationary while monitoring multiple displays, proficiency with software platforms, and passing background and drug screenings. Preferred candidates have call‑center or dispatch experience, strong communication skills, knowledge of Georgia’s road network, and flexibility to work the required shifts. • High School Diploma or GED required. • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while monitoring multiple ITS displays. • Proficiency with software platforms and web‑based applications. • Pass state/federal background check and pre‑employment drug screen. • Prior call‑center, dispatch, or E‑911 experience preferred. • Strong oral and written communication skills for radio, phone, and in‑person interactions. • Familiarity with Georgia’s interstate and arterial road network. • Accurate data‑entry and map‑reading abilities. • Ability to work calmly under high‑pressure, fast‑paced conditions.
