About the Role
The company is seeking an Associate Highway Engineering Design Task Lead for its Eastern Pennsylvania offices. This hybrid role provides technical leadership and design oversight for medium‑to‑large transportation projects, coordinating with designers, discipline leads, and project managers to advance scope and deliverables. Key responsibilities include developing design criteria, alignments, superelevation, barrier design, pavement designs, signing and marking plans, construction phasing, utility conflict resolution, specifications, cost estimates, 3D models in OpenRoads, and technical reports, while adhering to AECOM quality procedures and supporting interdisciplinary reviews. The associate will also contribute to staffing decisions, proposal development, marketing efforts, and client presentations, and will collaborate with larger design teams to meet scope, budget, and schedule through ethical decision‑making. • Oversee development of design criteria, alignments, superelevation, barrier/guiderail, and spot elevation details. • Supervise rigid and flexible pavement design creation. • Lead preparation of signing and pavement‑marking plans. • Manage construction phasing plans and develop maintenance‑of‑traffic strategies. • Identify and resolve utility conflicts through interdisciplinary coordination. • Produce construction specifications, quantity take‑offs, and cost estimates. • Direct 3D modeling of the highway design in OpenRoads. • Generate technical calculations and reports per client/internal standards. • Conduct interdisciplinary technical reviews and enforce AECOM quality procedures. • Assist in staffing decisions to meet client schedule, scope, and budget. • Contribute to proposals and marketing efforts to secure new work. • Prepare and deliver presentations of technical findings and recommendations.

What You Bring
Minimum qualifications are a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, four years of highway project experience, EIT certification, a valid driver’s license, and proficiency with MicroStation or AutoCAD. Preferred qualifications add six or more years of experience, a Pennsylvania PE license, OpenRoads expertise, PennDOT or Turnpike Commission project experience, and a willingness to mentor staff. • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. • Four+ years of highway transportation project experience. • EIT certification and valid US driver’s license. • Proficiency with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD. • Preferred: Six+ years of relevant experience. • Preferred: Professional Engineering (PE) license in Pennsylvania. • Preferred: Knowledge of OpenRoads design software. • Preferred: Experience on PennDOT or PA Turnpike Commission projects. • Preferred: Ability to mentor staff at various levels.
