About the Role
In this role you will provide technical assistance for the design, development, and construction of infrastructure projects, including the inspection, repair, and construction of bridges, roads, tunnels, and dams, while generating accurate documentation that meets industry standards for safety and functionality. You will conduct field inspections of bridges throughout the Southeast, produce concise inspection reports, plan inspection trips, maintain equipment, perform calculations for bridge repair designs and load ratings, and adhere to safety guidelines and WSP’s Code of Conduct, taking on additional duties as needed. • Inspect bridges across the Southeast for structural deterioration and damage. • Generate accurate bridge inspection reports using electronic tools and field logs. • Plan and prepare field inspection trips, maintaining equipment and supplies. • Perform calculations and provide entry‑level assistance on bridge repair designs and load ratings. • Follow site‑specific safety procedures and WSP’s Code of Conduct. • Uphold workplace safety policies and ethical use of company resources.

What You Bring
WSP is seeking a full‑time Assistant Bridge Inspector to work from the Mooresville, NC office as part of the Southeast Bridge Inspection Team. The ideal candidate holds at least a high school diploma, is detail‑oriented, capable of multitasking, has strong communication skills, is proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, can work at heights and in adverse weather, and is authorized to work in the United States; preferred qualifications include an associate’s degree, experience with drafting software, drone operation interest, and SPRAT rope certification. • Hold a high school diploma and be authorized to work in the United States. • Demonstrate strong attention to detail, multitasking, and communication skills. • Physically capable of climbing ladders (≤40 ft), handling tools, and working in adverse weather. • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and hand/power tools; preferred experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation. • Willingness to travel, work overtime, and adapt to project‑specific schedules. • Preferred: associate’s degree, relevant internship or leadership experience, drone operation interest, SPRAT rope certification.
