Job Highlights
About the Role
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once legal load capacity is reached. Depending on the line of business, drivers provide pick‑up service for containers that can exceed 1,000 pounds, navigate high‑traffic roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots, and perform highly skilled backing maneuvers. Residential drivers focus on household waste collection, while roll‑off drivers handle large open‑top and compactor containers and may work in tight overhead environments. • Operate vehicles according to WM Safety, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete DVIR reports. • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, or service interruptions promptly. • Attend required training, briefings, and meetings. • Collaborate with Operations Manager to optimize route efficiency. • Safely load, transport, and dump waste or recyclables, leaving sites clean. • Communicate customer requests and issues to dispatch. • Complete end‑of‑day documentation and vehicle check‑out. • Meet physical demands such as lifting, bending, and maneuvering in tight spaces.

What You Bring
All vehicle operation must comply with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and all local, state, and federal regulations. Drivers conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports, and immediately report unsafe situations, incidents, or service‑related issues to the Operations Manager or Dispatch. Participation in scheduled training, route‑efficiency collaboration, and thorough end‑of‑day documentation are also required. Qualified candidates must have at least one year of operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent military driving experience within the past seven years, be at least 18 years old, and be legally eligible to work in the country of employment. A valid Class A or Class B CDL with an air‑brake endorsement is required; a high school diploma or GED is preferred.
