About the Role
The R&D Test Technician will operate development test cells, preparing and installing engines, maintaining the cells, and supporting engineering teams. The role involves ensuring test cells are ready for engine testing and coordinating maintenance and troubleshooting activities. Technicians will lead on‑site work, keep detailed logs, manage part and fluid reservations, maintain inventory, and perform basic maintenance and preventive‑maintenance tracking. They will also instrument engines, support production testing when needed, and act as the first‑level troubleshooter for test cell and engine issues. • Operate and prepare development test cells and engines (installation, removal, testing) • Maintain test cell condition, coordinate maintenance, and troubleshoot issues • Provide technician support: rebuild engines, exchange components, install test equipment • Lead on‑site activities, record logs, prioritize tasks, and manage inventory • Use calibration and automation software to support development projects • Reserve parts, fluids, hardware; track preventive‑maintenance activities • Instrument engines and record instrumentation locations • Support production testing and act as first‑level troubleshooter for engine failures • Mentor Rolls‑Royce personnel and promote compliance with the Code of Conduct

What You Bring
The position requires an associate degree in engineering science or mechanical technology (or equivalent trade training) plus two years of combustion‑engine testing experience, and the ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. Preferred qualifications include advanced operational skill levels, proficiency with engine controls, calibration and automation software, and experience with AVL PUMA, ETAS INCA, MTU engines, forklift operation, and related tooling. The work environment is a durable‑goods manufacturing setting with regular standing, walking, lifting (up to 60 lb), and use of hand tools; shift work rotates weekly and may include 12‑hour overtime during extended tests. Employees must maintain a clean, safe area and adhere to Rolls‑Royce’s Code of Conduct and compliance standards. • Require associate degree or trade school plus 2 years engine‑testing experience; U.S. work authorization • Preferred: advanced operational skill level, knowledge of engine controls, AVL PUMA, ETAS INCA, MTU engines, forklift operation • Ability to lift 20‑60 lb, work rotating shifts and overtime • Strong communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
