About the Role

Interns will work under general supervision, assisting with data collection from sites, surveys, drawings, and reports, and supporting basic research and inspections to ensure compliance with codes and standards. Additional duties include performing routine building‑technology calculations, providing technical assistance for smart‑building design, generating accurate documentation, adhering to safety guidelines, completing required training, and following WSP’s Code of Conduct. • Collect and analyze site data, surveys, blueprints, and technical drawings. • Conduct research and inspections to verify compliance with codes and permits. • Perform load calculations and assist with design of smart‑building systems. • Generate clear documentation, specifications, and reports using digital tools. • Follow safety protocols and complete assigned training modules. • Uphold WSP’s Code of Conduct and ethical use of company resources. • Maintain effective communication with engineers, mentors, and non‑technical audiences.

What You Bring

The Buildings Team in Houston seeks a part‑time Building Technology Systems Intern for Summer 2026, open to undergraduate or graduate students, with a flexible start date within the 12‑week program beginning May 18 2026. Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited program related to building‑technology or engineering, graduating August 2026 or later, be at least 18, have strong communication skills, basic technical‑writing and software proficiency, familiarity with smart‑building concepts and relevant codes, and be authorized to work in the United States. Preferred assets include design experience with AV, security or structured cabling, Revit proficiency, and prior related internships. • Demonstrate proficiency in office software and design tools such as Revit or AutoCAD. • Possess knowledge of smart‑building technologies, AV, telecommunications, and related regulations.
