What You Bring
The ideal candidate will have experience with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission policies, standards, and specifications, as well as proven project experience as a bridge engineer. Required expertise includes structural analysis, design, and detailed plan preparation for steel and concrete bridges, retaining walls, and parking garages, along with an understanding of highway, civil, site, and geotechnical engineering. Key responsibilities include effective time management, analytical and interpersonal skills, and a professional presence with solid decision‑making, planning, and organizational abilities. Over time, the role expands to managing scopes, schedules, budgets, and daily project delivery, including direct customer interaction. Qualifications required are a BS in Civil or Structural Engineering (Masters optional), a Professional Engineering (PE) license in Pennsylvania (or the ability to obtain one within one year), and at least five years of experience in analyzing and designing concrete and structural steel bridges (new and rehabilitated) and related structures. Preferred qualifications include prior experience with PennDOT or Turnpike projects, familiarity with AASHTO LRFD/LFD bridge design specifications, proficiency in MicroStation, InRoads or OpenRoads, and strong skills in Microsoft Office. Excellent verbal and written communication, teamwork, organizational ability, self‑motivation, and a commitment to continuous improvement are also valued.
