About the Role
• Prepare and review project documentation such as basis of design, technical and procurement specifications, assessment and survey reports. • Conduct detailed surveys of existing mechanical systems and equipment to inform design recommendations. • Produce and review mechanical design drawings and calculations for HVAC, water supply, and drainage systems. • Develop accurate fee estimates for project work elements. • Provide expert advice on energy consumption and recommend measures to improve efficiency and sustainability. • Oversee design and project management of building services, ensuring delivery on schedule and to quality standards. • Ensure compliance with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, legislation, and engineering standards. • Create resourcing plans and manage team utilization across the mechanical engineering group. • Design and implement growth strategies, including training and career development for mechanical engineers. • Collaborate with discipline leads and the Built Environment Lead to shape team strategy and organizational goals. • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure client satisfaction and identify business growth opportunities. • Lead projects from feasibility through completion, providing technical guidance and leadership. • Develop resilient infrastructure solutions leveraging digital technologies and tools. • Work with other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated project solutions. • Monitor budgets, anticipate risks, and maintain transparent communication to maximize project profitability. • Lead multi‑disciplinary proposals for transit and built environment projects.

What You Bring
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Mechanical Engineering Lead to join our Built Environment team in Toronto. This role offers variety, challenge, and the chance to enhance your skills while advancing your career in a collaborative and innovative environment, working on a diverse portfolio of private and public sector projects including major infrastructure and framework developments. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering design and solid technical competencies, with an understanding of building services and core construction disciplines such as civil, architectural, and structural engineering. To be considered for this role, you will possess the skills, experience and qualifications outlined below. • Minimum 15 years of experience managing diverse projects, including built environment and transit sectors; aviation and nuclear experience is a strong asset. • Bachelor’s degree in Building Services Engineering with a mechanical engineering focus. • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario or eligible for registration within 12 months of hire. • Strong understanding of current building codes, regulations, legislation, and standards for building and infrastructure design. • Advanced knowledge and hands‑on experience with software such as NBS Chorus, IES, and HAP. • Demonstrated experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes and tools. • Highly self‑motivated, able to work independently, exercise sound judgment and make confident decisions. • Proven ability to work effectively in team environments and build strong relationships with internal teams, external partners, and subcontractors. • Excellent verbal communication skills combined with a positive, professional attitude.

The expected salary range for this position is $152,000 – $186,000, with the final figure depending on qualifications, overall experience and responsibilities. Collaboration is at our core; our hybrid approach centers on an in‑office culture with most time spent collaborating face‑to‑face and a minimum of three days per week in the office, balancing flexibility with connection.
