About the Role

The Mechanical Engineer will provide technical support for maintenance and operations while designing and implementing innovative solutions to enhance production. Responsibilities include designing, troubleshooting, and analyzing mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components and systems, as well as writing specifications and maintaining project documentation. The role also manages capital projects, leads process‑improvement initiatives across the site, and upholds a strong safety mindset. • Provide technical support for maintenance and operations. • Design and implement innovative solutions to enhance production. • Design, troubleshoot, and analyze mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components and systems. • Write mechanical specifications and maintain project documentation. • Manage capital projects and lead process improvement initiatives across the site. • Demonstrate leadership in safety by initiating and upholding safety policies and procedures.

What You Bring

Safety is the most important aspect of every job at Nucor, requiring candidates to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with two years of relevant experience, or five years of experience in lieu of a degree. • Proficient in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or Inventor. • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, mechanics, and manufacturing processes. • Ability and desire to work safely and guide an accident‑free workplace. • Experience identifying deficiencies in mechanical processes and developing improvements. • Proven track record leading full‑lifecycle product development from design to implementation. • Experience with electro‑mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic machine design. • Familiarity with melting/casting or rolling mill operations and process automation/control technologies. • Excellent computer skills and willingness to travel up to 10%.
